During the Women’s World Cup, ESPN broadcast a series of short form documentaries featuring women in football from countries around the world.

Our film, L’Abitre tells the story of three female referees in Democratic Republic of Congo. Incredible warrior women who will not be dissuaded from seeing their dreams of equality in their war-ravaged country come true.

This documentary was a creative partnership between ESPN and BDA Creative and was produced by perfect tribe Founder & Executive Producer Nikki Bentley.

Filmed in and around Kinshasa, DRC and directed by Ruhi Hamid.
